Phones and electronic devices

You can use your cell phone, laptop and other electronic devices onboard until advised by the flight crew, but phone calls aren't allowed during flight.

Please keep these things in mind during taxi, takeoff and landing:

  1. Put small devices in airplane mode and either hold or place the device under your seat
  2. Laptops, virtual reality headsets and other large items cannot be held and should be turned off and put away

Personal device entertainment

On most flights, you can stream our library of movies and TV shows to your phone, tablet or laptop – without buying Wi-Fi. All you need is the American Airlines app on your phone or tablet. All entertainment is free – watch it everywhere on Wi-Fi equipped American Airlines flights.

  1. Download the American Airlines app before takeoff
  2. Enable airplane mode and connect to the "AA-Inflight" Wi-Fi signal
  3. If you are not redirected, open a browser and enter aainflight.com
  4. Select "View free entertainment" or the entertainment button/icon
  5. Select your movie or TV show
